As others have said, avoid the built-in presets unless you use the devices in question. When used as a graphical interface to x264 it can be terrific, but it's a tool with a learning curve.

Is it even a good solution for converting? I'm a beginner user of it but it seems that all the outputs seem to destroy film grain like no tomorrow compared to 10 year old PC programs and wonder if the only reason it got popular is iPhone people. Without external decrypters, Handbrake is not a good solution for ripping or converting your commercially made movies (So only I can work with that license, not me and a friend, even if it's technically possible).

I can install two places, any two places (and change which two, too), but there's only a license for one user. Kinda like Adobe and the Creative Cloud license. If it's a license (which is what makes sense, since the product isn't the piece of plastic and metal layers with printing that is the DVD, but the data), it shouldn't matter how many copies I have as long as I'm only consuming one of them, and not renting out/giving copies to friends. They can't have it both ways - either they're selling a license, and the physical media is kinda irrelevant, as long as I respect the rights the license gives me, or they're selling a physical product, in which case, I can do whatever I want with it. But if you break or damage the physical media, they want you to buy it again even though you've already paid for the license!Įxactly what I was going to post. They want you to think of it as a license to use the content, so you cannot resell it or make copies. Just guessing as I have no read the T&C or smallprint - who does?
